Action & Adventure in Zhangjiajie & Beyond

Standard DreamTrip
See the wild, otherworldly landscapes of southern China from a new perspective when you cross a record-setting footbridge suspended high above a canyon, venture along a glass walkway set against the cliff walls of Tianmen Mountain & so much more. Book by November 20.

About Your Trip

Thrill-seekers, outdoor enthusiasts and families — this adventurous DreamTrip is for you! Pack your camera and good walking shoes, and then get ready to experience unforgettable natural wonders as you traverse the incredible landscapes of southern China. The modern engineering marvels here will also impress. Find out for yourself when you cross the glass-bottom bridge spanning a massive canyon and hug the curves of a mountain as you navigate a glass walkway built against its cliffs.

There’s so much to discover and do here. You and your loved ones will enjoy 3 distinct experiences, starting at Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Set within UNESCO-protected Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area, this park is a stunner. Highlights of this tour include a sightseeing stop at the tranquil Golden Whip Stream and a stroll along Xibu Street, a traditional area for culture and shopping.

On your next outing, visit Tianmen Mountain National Park. It’s here that you’ll brave one of the newest additions to the landscape — a glass skywalk with a height of 4,700 feet (1,432.5 meters) that’s set against the side of the mountain! Then, after a stop at Tianmenshan Temple, you’ll ride an elevator through the rock up to Tianmen Cave, with time there to explore. Look over the hillside at a road that boasts 99 bends — it’s sure to take your breath away.

The following day offers a half-day tour of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. This time, you’ll cross a glass-bottom bridge suspended between canyon walls high above the valley floor. The magnificent structure has been named “World’s Highest Footbridge” by Guinness World Records™. Stop at an observation deck for more amazing views before returning to the hotel to enjoy time on your own.

What we love:
• Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992 thanks to more than 3,000 striking sandstone pillars, natural bridges high above the valley floor, caves and other spectacular scenery.
• The world-famous bridge spanning Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is 1,410 feet (430 meters) long and suspended about 985 feet (300 meters) above the canyon floor.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!

Destination

You can think of Zhangjiajie as China’s best-kept secret, largely untouched by man for thousands of years. The city’s recorded history dates back to 221 B.C., though humans have inhabited the region for more than 100,000 years. The diversity of flora and fauna coupled with awe-inspiring scenery draws millions of visitors to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park each year. In fact, the setting for James Cameron’s “Avatar” was inspired by Hallelujah Mountain, a 3,523-foot (1,074-meter) tall peak in the Yuanjiajie part of Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Area. Even locals describe the panoramic views as “beautiful beyond expression.”
