Embrace the Diversity of Beijing & Beyond

Ride a cable car to the Great Wall of China & visit the Forbidden City, Summer Palace & more on this amazing cultural journey in and around China’s capital city.

About Your Trip

Get ready to be wowed as you immerse yourself in the ancient history and intriguing culture of Beijing and surrounding countryside — from centuries-old streets to one of the planet's most famous UNESCO-protected sites. Your first adventure begins with a round-trip cable-car ride at Badaling Great Wall, an original section of the Great Wall of China that’s remarkably well-preserved. You’ll become a part of history when you place your own stone in the wall to help restore a ruined section of this amazing landmark — you’ll even receive a certificate for your contribution! As you transfer back to Beijing, stop at National Stadium, or the Bird’s Nest, for a glimpse of this remarkable structure from the outside.

The following day, you’ll marvel at the historic Forbidden City, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a colorful peek into China’s imperial past. Your tour continues to the Summer Palace — acclaimed for its scenic views — before you head to popular Wangfujing Street. This mile-long shopper’s paradise has hundreds of stores, boutiques, food stalls and night markets.

Back in Beijing, use ample leisure time to get out and discover your own favorite highlights of this lively city.

What we love:
• The Forbidden City — also known as “Gu Gong” or the Palace Museum — is so-called because no one was permitted to enter the area for 500 years.
• Beijing is home to several UNESCO World Heritage sites recognized for their outstanding cultural significance. You’ll see 3 of them on this fascinating DreamTrip: Great Wall of China, Forbidden City and Summer Palace.
• In your leisure time, why not visit one of Beijing’s famous hutongs? Each hutong, or alleyway, has its own name; some famous hutongs include Skewed Tobacco Pouch Street and Colored Glaze Factory Cultural Street.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!
